Amena, the wireless communications company of Auna Group in Spain, has awarded Newtelco Services, owned by Ericsson (75 per cent) and Soluziona (25 per cent), a six-year contract for the outsourcing of the field services of its mobile network. Under the agreement, Ericsson will take over the responsibility of preventive and corrective field maintenance of the Amena GSM network. This also includes network integration and configuration services, related to the daily management of the network.

“We see a trend where operators hand over network operation activities to a trusted partner. And this contract with Amena reconfirms our position as the clear telecom leader in Managed Services”, says Ingemar Naeve, head of Ericsson Spain.

Around 200 of Amena‘s technical employees, related assets and some equipment will be transferred to Newtelco Services.
