May 9, 2003 | Conteúdos Em Ingles

Local language information technology application market is likely to touch a revenue of €60 million by 2005 from the current €10.2 million, according to a study by Frost & Sullivan. The local language applications market, currently estimated at about €10.2million is likely to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of over 79 per cent over the next three years.

In 2003, the market is likely to have potential of €18.7 million and the key driver would be the promotion of new technology solutions, applications, increasing local content creation, language project initiatives and commercialisation of local language products and applications developed by the labs in India.

The study stated that the current market size of the local language applications has remained limited due to lack of universal standards for scripts, fonts, input devices and transliteration tools and limited availability of vernacular software.
