Universal Dialog, a US provider of multilingual translation, localisation and language management services, announced that it is to provide the Spanish translation services for Intuit’s TurboTax en Español tax preparation software.
“Universal Dialog‘s translation expertise, editorial process and efficiency enabled us to rapidly develop this product line with the highest integrity and quality standards,” notes Barry Saik, Intuits director of brand marketing for TurboTax.
According to the US Census Bureau, based on July 2001 data, the Hispanic population within the United States has grown to approximately 37 million, representing more than 13 percent of the US population. According to the 2000 US Census, there are at least 10.9 million Hispanics in California, representing more than 32 percent of the state’s population.
“Intuit and many other of our translation services customers are wisely recognising that the Hispanic population has substantial purchasing power in the United States. Their investment in Spanish translation for software interfaces, product packaging, operation manuals, advertising, customer relationship management and websites is increasingly important to expanding market share,” says Alexandra Briskin, Universal Dialog CEO.
“For those companies who plan to market their products and services toward Hispanic and other non-English speaking populations, it is extremely important to ensure that all translations are performed by highly trained professionals within their market sector. As well, all cultural differences must be considered when preparing any communication in another language,” Ms. Briskin explains.
