Intelligent network services vendor NewVoiceMedia announced that it has signed an agreement with telisma to deploy 1,700 ports of telisma’s speech recognition technology in the UK.

The capacity, which will be spread across five UK telcos and service providers, including THUS plc, will enable NewVoiceMedia to handle mass market levels of media response speech recognition, including telephone voting for TV and radio shows and responses to large advertising campaigns.

Commenting on the announcement Anthony Buxton, VP Intelligent Network Sales, at NewVoiceMedia, said, “Our agreement with telisma gives us the scale and quality of carrier grade telco network-based speech recognition capability we need to support the largest scale projects within the UK

The deal between the two companies follows an earlier statement in May 2005 in which NewVoiceMedia first revealed that it had selected telisma as a strategic partner for voice recognition.
