Vonage and Uniden America Corporation, a manufacturer of wireless consumer electronics, announced a partnership to develop a broadband cordless phone system configured with Vonage’s service.

Under the terms of this partnership, Vonage will soon enable the Uniden UIP1869V, which offers a corded base unit and is expandable up to ten cordless handsets, to deliver a state of the art VoIP solution. Uniden’s product will be based on Texas Instruments’ TNETV1060 VoIP gateway chipset, enabling consumers to benefit from high quality voice applications compatible with Vonage’s service. It features a telephone base unit which will plug directly into a customer’s broadband connection or router, eliminating the need for a standalone adapter and telephone.

“We are excited to announce this partnership with Vonage in order to deliver a cost-effective VoIP solution to consumers and small business owners,” said Brett Morrison, national sales manager in charge of IP Products and Business Communications at Uniden America Corporation. “Vonage is widely recognized as a leader in the broadband space and Uniden is pleased to partner with the company as part of this consumer VoIP offering
